Palaces, Forts & Beyond (Tour Code: IN/015) – Explore the romance of India’s forts and palaces, their past glory, wars and warriors. Of all the Indian monuments, forts and palaces are indeed most fascinating ones. The state of Rajasthan in India has an abundant bounty of architectural delights. We take you on this 14/15 days tour through the desert state of Rajasthan. On this tour we visit Agra, Bharatpur, Ranthambore, Chittaurgarh, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Jaipur.
Day 01 Arrival day in Delhi
On arrival in Delhi, our representative will meet, assist and transfer you to hotel. Check in at the hotel. Full day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Delhi.
Post breakfast check out from the hotel and drive to Agra (180 km / 3 hrs). Upon arrival visit Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Later drive to Bharatpur (60 kms / 1.5 hrs). Time permitting we visit Fatehpur Sikri. Arrive Bharatpur by the evening, check-in and overnight at the forest lodge in Bharatpur.
Day 03 Bharatpur / Ranthambore
Today, pre-breakfast enjoy bird watching tour at the National Park in the picturesque surrounding and chirping of birds around you. Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary (Keoladeo Ghana National Park) is famous as one of Asia’s finest birding areas, with over 380 resident and migrant species, including the Common Demoiselle and the rare Siberian Cranes. It is also an excellent place to watch mammals like Golden Jackal, Striped Hyena, Fishing Cat, Jungle Cat, Nilgai, Sambar, Blackbuck and wild Boar. To observe the flora of the park from close quarters, you can take a boat trip (subject to availability) in the lake where most animals and birds come to quench their thirst . Later back to your forest lodge, late breakfast and day up to lunch at leisure. Lunch will be served at hotel. Post lunch check-out from the lodge and drive to Rabthambore (250 kms / 5 hrs). Reach Rabthambore by late evening and check in at hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Ranthambore.
Day 04 Ranthambore
Early morning safari to Ranthambore National Park exploring Bengal Tigers. This place is known for Bengal Tigers and is one of the best places in India to see these majestic predators. Besides Tigers we will get to see, Sambhar, Spotted Deer (Chital), Blue Bull (Nilgai), Chinkara (Indian gazelle) and Wild Boar. The other large mammals that can be seen in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve are the Sloth Bear, Indian Fox, Jackal, few Indian wild dogs (Dhole), Small Indian Civet, Palm Civet, Common Indian and Ruddy Mongoose and Striped Hyena. Back to hotel for lunch. Later you take an evening safari to further explore Ranthambore National Park. Back to hotel and overnight at the hotel in Ranthambore.
Day 05 Ranthambore / Chittaurgarh
Early breakfast at hotel and post breakfast check out from the hotel and drive to Chittaurgarh (150 kms / 3 hrs). Arrive Chittaurgarh by afternoon and check in at the hotel. Post lunch visit Chittaurgarh Fort, Rana Kumbha Palace, Padmini Palace and Fateh Prakash Palace. Chittaurgarh Fort is the symbol of the Rajput bravery and sacrifice. Set on a steep 180 meters high hill, the massive Chittorgarh Fort has seven gates to enter the main gate, Rampol. While passing through the second and third gate you can see two cenotaphs built to honor Jaimal and Patta, the two brave soldiers who died fighting the armies of Emperor Akbar during 1568 siege. Back to hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Chittaurgarh.
Day 06 Chittaurgarh / Udaipur
Breakfast at the hotel. Post breakfast drive to Udaipur (125 kms / 2.5 hrs). Check in at the hotel. Later sightseeing of this regal city is in store for you. The highlights of this tour would be the rich collection of magnificent City Palace Museum, majestic Jagdish Temple and an elegant garden called Sahelion-Ki-Bari. Spend later part of this afternoon at leisure. Evening cruise through the placid waters of Lake Pichola at sunset. Dinner will be served on your private boat. Back to hotel and overnight at the hotel in Udaipur.
Day 07 Udaipur
Post breakfast we have the entire day today to explore Udaipur, also visit the local Bazaars and walk down the streets to understand the local culture. Overnight at the hotel in Udaipur.
Day 08 Udaipur / Jodhpur
Breakfast at the hotel. Post lunch check out from the hotel to drive to Jodhpur (280 km / 6 hrs). En route to Jodhpur we will visit Ranakpur (100 km / 2 hrs from Udaipur), famous for the marble Jain temple. Enjoy your lunch here and post lunch continue your drive to Jodhur (180 km / 4 hrs). Arrive Jodhpur and check-in at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Jodhpur.
Day 09 Jodhpur
Breakfast at the hotel. Post breakfast visit Mehrangarh Fort – It stands at hundred feet in splendour on a perpendicular cliff, four hundred feet above the sky line of Jodhpur. Burnished red sand stone, imposing, invincible and yet with a strange haunting beauty that beckons. Later you will be visiting Umaid Bhavan Palace and Jaswant Thada – The Royal Cenotaph. Back to hotel by evening. Overnight at the hotel in Jodhpur.
Day 10 Jodhpur / Jaisalmer
Check out from the hotel with packed breakfast to connect an early morning train and transfer to Railway Station in time to connect your early morning train to Jaisalmer (300 kms / 5.5 hrs). Arrive Jaisalmer – The Golden City by afternoon and you will be transferred to your hotel. Check in at the hotel. Later you can take half day Camel Safari Ride on the deserts of Jaisalmer. Overnight at the hotel in Jaisalmer.
Day 11 Jaisalmer / Jaipur (overnight train; via Jodhpur, compulsive backtracking)
Breakfast at the hotel. Post breakfast check-out from the hotel and visit the city’s magnificent havelis or the merchant’s houses, each richly decorated and carved out of golden yellow sandstone – Patwon-ki-Haveli (House of the Brocade Merchants) is the largest and most elaborate of the famous havelis of Jaisalmer. The Nathmalji-ki-Haveli (The Mansion of Nathmalji), the last of the great havelis was built in the late 19th century. Also visit to Gadisar Lake – the large natural oasis. Early evening we board our train to Jaipur. We will carry packed dinner for the train. Overnight on board the train.
Day 12 Jaisalmer / Jaipur
Arrive Jaipur, transfer and check-in at the hotel (room reserved for early occupancy). Breakfast will be served at the hotel. Day up to lunch at leisure. Post early lunch visit Jantar Mantar – Astronomical Observatory, City Palace and Hawa Mahal, a five storied stunning semi-octagonal monument having 152 windows with over hanging latticed balconies is a fine piece of Rajput architecture. Also visit the local bazaars which house a wide variety of famous handicrafts from Rajasthan. Back to hotel and overnight at the hotel in Jaipur.
Day 13 Jaipur
Breakfast at the hotel. Post breakfast we visit the Amer Fort – remarkable for the majestic grandeur of its surroundings as for its sturdy battlements and beautiful palaces. It is a fine blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture. Also visit Jaigarh and Nahargarh Fort. Back to hotel by evening and overnight at the hotel in Jaipur.
Day 14 Jaipur / Delhi / Home
Early breakfast and check out from the hotel and transfer to airport in time to connect your morning / evening flight to Delhi (1 hr flight) and further connect your flight back home.
