Star
rating is an outdated system and the creativity in hospitality has gone beyond
this rating system at least in India. Thus we have developed our own rating
system to get a clear idea of what a property would be like.
A
luxury property is an up-market hotel that is graded 5 star deluxe and suits
luxury travellers, pampering all their senses. One can expect more than one
restaurants, coffee shop, spa, beauty saloon, swimming pool et al.
Heritage
property is a parador, where old forts, palaces are converted into a luxury
hotel. These are very popular in the Indian state of Rajasthan and are scattered
in other states of India too. ‘Heritage-Lux’ is a combination of modern day
luxury and age-old charm.
This
one is a younger cousin of Heritage-Lux where one would sacrifice ultra-modern
luxuries to experience age-old charms of smaller palaces and old houses. This
type of property is nor necessarily too big in size, beauty and style but for
sure has its own uniqueness.
Properties
built around a particular theme, eg. thatched roofed huts, canvas tents, tree-top
houses etc.,
This is a more stylish cousin of the upper hotel (theme properties). More up market, very luxurious and yet very unique.
This
property is just a good neat and clean 4-5 star hotel that has lived up to some
basics in the trade. Good value for money would not be the wrong word for such
properties.
Period
Period is referred to any property from the mentioned categories that belong to a particular period, an aged, old world charm retained. This is not as old to be classified as heritage and not so young to be referred to as just a property from the mentioned category - so we prefix our categorisation with 'period' to refer to its age that in itself is a charm.
Budget
property is another phrase for such properties and this type of property is used
maximum by the business travellers and meets the basic hotel needs of one
restaurant, good rooms, small reception area or a lounge. One must be prepared
for not seeing too many toiletries and amenities in the rooms.
This
property is just a good neat and clean 2-3 star hotel/guest house/home stay/
lodge and we usually use this in those areas where we do not find any better
options. One must be prepared to expect too little from this kind of property.
Undoubtedly we hand-pick such properties too and provide the best available room
here to counter the 'basic' offering of such stays.
This is that variety of property that is set amidst forests, national parks, biosphere et al. Close to nature with sure compromises with luxury that one finds in city hotels. We at Indian Frontiers have classified these properties too under a further sub-heads of luxury, standard and economical.
